For Fitness Coordinators

I am a licensed Nia Technique teacher offering Nia classes in our local community. I hold a healthcare level CPR certification and carry my own fitness insurance. To set up a song demo and interview, please contact me at beccaverna@gmail.com to coordinate a time and date.

Nia is an internationally acclaimed cardiovascular mind-body movement practice taught in more than 45 countries worldwide in a variety of settings including high schools, fitness clubs, hospitals and corporate environments. As the first practice to combine martial arts, dance arts and healing arts, Nia has fundamentally changed people’s lives with its evolutionary approach to fitness and wellness.

Nia has been featured in Psychology Today, The New York Times, Oprah Magazine, The Globe and Mail, BBC Online, Psychologies Magazine, Huffington Post, American Way, and hundreds of other publications and websites.

One of Nia’s main appeals is that it benefits people of all ages and ability levels, and can be tailored to specialty populations such as adolescents, elite athletes, the elderly and those affected by disease or illness. All Nia movements are based on what we call The Body’s Way – a method of moving the body in accordance with its natural design and function. Participants are encouraged to explore three planes of movement (low, middle, high) and to choose from three intensity levels based on their individual needs.

As Dr. Christiane Northrup describes, “I love Nia! It’s a total mind, body, spirit celebration.” Dr. Bernie Siegel says, “Nia is both therapeutic and enjoyable. The movements feel natural and open up insights and feelings that will make you feel like you are discovering yourself in a new way.” Dr. Lissa Rankin explains, “My colleagues in the healing professions recommend Nia to their clients with body image issues (such as eating disorders), not just because the movement can be tailored to the sickest body or the buffest one, but because Nia celebrates the body, just as it is, in all its richness, and can be part of the therapeutic equation.”

Sincerely,
